Do we need reservations for the mine tour?
No, reservations aren't needed.
How long does the tour last?
The tour lasts about 45 minutes, but you can gold pan as long as you like. Plan to spend about 1.5 to 2 hours.
How early before the tour should we arrive?
We suggest you arrive 15 -20 minutes before your tour.
Is gold panning included with the mine tour?
Gold panning is included with the mine tour and is taught after the tour of the mine.
How far are you from Breckenridge?
We are located 2 miles East of downtown Breckenridge and 9 miles South of Frisco. For complete directions, visit the directions page.
Is the mine tour a walking tour?
Yes, the mine is an easy walk 1,000 feet into the mine and an additional 1,000 feet out of the mine. There is no climbing or steps.
What should I wear?
Please dress warmly as the mine is a constant 45 degrees year-round. Sturdy walking shoes are also recommended.
Is the Country Boy Mine safe?
Yes! The Country Boy Mine is inspected by the State of Colorado.
Is the Country Boy Mine still an active mine?
No, the Country Boy Mine can no longer mine for it’s valuable ore still inside the mountain due to the cost prohibitive mining standards of today. The Country Boy Mine did not close because it ran out of gold, but closed because of economic conditions.
Are children allowed on the mine tours?
Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Do you have a gift shop?
Yes, we have a gift shop. It features gold panning supplies, old fashion toys, books, rocks, and fun souvenirs.

We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover.
