Directions to The Country Boy Mine

From Breckenridge

The Country Boy Mine is located 2 miles north of downtown Breckenridge. Allow 15 – 20 minutes travel time; however, this may vary depending on weather and traffic conditions.

  1. The main intersection in downtown Breckenridge with a stoplight is Main Street and Ski Hill Road. From Main Street (also known as highway 9), head north.
  2. Heading north, about ¼ mile from the stoplight is Wellington Road, which only heads East (away from the ski slopes).a. Turn right onto Wellington Road. As a landmark, look for Extreme Pizza and the Colorado Free Ride Bike and Ski Shop.
  3. Continue up the hill on Wellington. You will pass through two stop signs through a neighborhood. About 1 mile, the road forks, continue to bear right.
  4. Continue for 1 more mile. You are passing by the Wellington neighborhood on the right. The road turns into a dirt road, and the Country Boy mine is ¼ mile more up this dirt road. A large sign is visible on the right. Enjoy your mine tour and good luck gold panning!

From Frisco

The Country boy Mine is located 9 miles south from downtown Frisco. Allow 15 – 20 minutes travel time; however, this may vary depending on weather and traffic conditions.

  1. From the stoplight in downtown Frisco at Main Street and Highway 9, head south. You will encounter 2 more stoplights about a ¼ mile apart as you head south.
  2. After these stoplights and 1 more mile south, you will pass Dillon Reservoir on your left. You will then pass the high school on your right and come to another stoplight. This is the intersection of Highway 9 and Swan Mountain Road. Continue south for approximately 2 miles. You will pass Tiger Run RV Resort on the left and see signs on the right for the Breckenridge Nordic Ski Area, Breckenridge Public Golf Course. Continue driving south.
  3. Continue past the stoplights for Coyone Road, Valley Brook Road, and CR 450.
  4. Just past CR 450 and the 7-Eleven on the left, you will encounter a traffic circle. Continue through the traffic circle onto Main Street. Do not veer right to continue on Highway 9. The next stoplight is French Street. Pass through French street and turn left onto Wellington Road. There is no stoplight at this road
  5. Turn left onto Wellington Road. As a landmark, look for Extreme Pizza and the Colorado Free Ride Bike and Ski Shop.
  6. Continue up the hill on Wellington. You will pass through two stop signs through a neighborhood. About 1 mile, the road forks, continue to bear right.
  7. Continue for 1 more mile. You are passing by the Wellington neighborhood on the right. The road turns into a dirt road, and the Country Boy mine is ¼ mile more up this dirt road. A large sign is visible on the right. Enjoy your mine tour and good luck gold panning!
